Clayens: Together to fight breast cancer!

Clayens octobre rose

Every year, the month of October is painted in the color of solidarity: pink. "Pink October" has become an important global period to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

The "Pink challenge" at Clayens: walking for a good cause

This year, Clayens fully committed to the cause by participating in the "Pink challenge": from October 7th to 30th, all of our subsidiaries rallied to take on a challenge where walking became a true act of solidarity.

The concept is simple: in teams of five, each participant synchronizes their phone and walks to support the association "Courir pour elle"! Every step counts to climb the rankings and increase the funds raised.

Our sites around the world laced up their sneakers to take on this challenge!

We are particularly proud of our 83 teams who fully engaged in the cause.

In total, we achieved 48 634 094 steps, it is equivalent to 807 marathons, or 85% of a full trip around the Earth, placing Clayens 12th out of the 25 companies participating in the challenge. As a result, we are pleased to donate 5 000€ to the "Courir pour Elles" Association. This donation will support the association's cancer prevention efforts and help women affected by the disease by providing access to Adapted Physical Activity (APA) sessions in hospital or community settings.

A special shout-out to the "Les préparateurs matières" team from our NP Genas subsidiary, who ranked first among the 509 teams in the corporate challenge from start to finish! ✊

The traditional "Pink Day" at Clayens

Many of our sites also organized the traditional "Pink Day," where everyone proudly wore this emblematic color to show support in the fight against breast cancer. Our subsidiaries deployed awareness campaigns to inform and encourage employees to get screened.

Some key figures to keep in mind…

In 2023, the number of new breast cancer cases worldwide was close to 2.3 million. With 685,000 deaths, it remains the leading cause of cancer among women in 157 out of 185 countries. Half of all cases occur in women with no specific risk factors other than gender and age. Although it mainly affects women, this cancer also impacts men, who make up between 0.5% and 1% of cases. These statistics remind us of the importance of screening and prevention. When detected early, breast cancer can be cured in 90% of cases. If you notice any symptoms, don’t hesitate to consult a healthcare professional. Talking about it is preventing it and taking action in time.

Let’s talk about it, stay informed, and act together!
